H M QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Members of Woking History Society will be saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our longest serving monarch, and indeed one to whom faith and service meant so much and directed her life and reign.

She made some formal visits to Woking, notably for the dedication of the Brookwood Memorial and for opening of the McLaren Technology Centre in 2004. The Prince of Wales, now King Charles III came to the town as part of his keenly felt environmental interests for a viewing of the film ‘An inconvenient truth.’

To all the Royal Family we send our heartfelt condolences at the loss of a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.   Within their sorrow they have so much of which to be proud. To King Charles III and Camilla, his Queen Consort, our best wishes for a reign which will confidently build on the great legacy of his mother and grandfather.
